KT Local Government Employers is a municipal employers' organisation that promotes the interests of Finnish local and joint municipal authorities in the labour market.
KT is also a central labour market organisation representing local government employers in national collective bargaining negotiations and in tripartite cooperation.
Collective agreements for the local government sector
KT negotiates and concludes collective agreements for the local government sector together with the principal bargaining organisations representing municipal employees.
It supports municipalities in their employer role by issuing recommendations in matters concerning employment relationships, cost-effectiveness and the quality of working life.
Furthermore, KT Local Government Employers lobbies for Finnish municipal employer interests in the European Union.
Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities
KT is part of the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities, where it deals with labour market matters and issues relating to working life improvement.
The Act on the Commission for Local Authority Employers
KT's legal status is based on the 1993 Act on the Commission for Local Authority Employers.
The Act lays down provisions on KT's core functions, the setting up of a delegation and the financing of operation.
