Local government employers in Finland
Finland has 309 municipalities and about 122 joint municipal authorities, which employ about 425 000 people. Local Government and County Employers KT promotes the interests of Finnish municipalities, joint municipal authorities and counties on the labour market.
Providing basic public services
Local government employers are for instance

- comprehensive and upper secondary schools, vocational institution
- day care and youth affairs centres, homes for elderly
- libraries, museums
- local traffic as well as fire and recue departments.
One fifth employed by municipal sector
More than 80% of all local government personnel work in the health care, social services and educational sectors.The local government services sector comprises more than 7,000 different occupational titles. In October 2020, a full-time monthly salaried worker earned on average 3 372 euros a month.
